Viewing a Letter

When viewing a letter, there are four areas to pay attention to:

  • The top frame contains the title information. Click on 'More Title Info' to open a popup window with more information about the person sending the letter.

  • The upper right frame contains the translated letter. If using Internet Explorer, clicking on any footnotes will scroll the left area of the screen to that footnote.

  • Underneath, in the lower right frame, is the original text (if available). You can slide the bar between these two frames to enlarge/shrink them as needed.

  • The left area of the screen displays footnotes, historical context, and information about the source. Just select one of these options from the buttons above the area.
